Some of the delegation members with Samer MajaliA delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain (AmCham Bahrain) was given an overview of Gulf Air’s new strategy during a visit to the airline’s headquarters. Gulf Air CEO Samer Majali welcomed the delegation at the airline’s headquarters in Muharraq and hosted a lunch in honour of the visiting delegation.

A delegation from  the American Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain (AmCham Bahrain) during a visit to the United States last week discussed means to promote trade relations, ‮ ‬ maximizing the use of the free trade agreement, at a time when American exports to region are expected to exceed 75‬ billion dollars this year, seeing an increase of 20%. American Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting at the Gulf Hotel. Chief guest at the event, United Airlines managing director Marcel Fuchs, spoke about the airline's imminent launch of services between Bahrain and Washington, via Kuwait on April 18. He said the airline had received a lot of support from Bahraini businessmen who had been instrumental in the airline coming to Bahrain and starting services.
Earlier, chamber president Adel Al Safar welcomed Mr Fuchs and other guests, including US ambassador Adam Ereli.

MANAMA: Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Hassan Fakhro yesterday said Bahrain and the US were 'moving ahead on a road of understanding' and co-operation towards achieving all the objectives of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries. Speaking at the wrap-up session of the second Bahrain-US FTA joint review committee meeting at the Gulf Hotel, he said the meeting had been successful.

The Bahrain/US FTA is a unique springboard into the US market place. The US currently only has 8 bilateral trade agreements with the following countries: Australia, Singapore, Chile, Jordan, Morocco, and Bahrain and as of January I, 2009, Oman. However, the single most liberal FTA, now and for the foreseeable future is the one the US has with Bahrain.
