
American Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting at the Gulf Hotel. Chief guest at the event, United Airlines managing director Marcel Fuchs, spoke about the airline's imminent launch of services between Bahrain and Washington, via Kuwait on April 18. He said the airline had received a lot of support from Bahraini businessmen who had been instrumental in the airline coming to Bahrain and starting services.
Earlier, chamber president Adel Al Safar welcomed Mr Fuchs and other guests, including US ambassador Adam Ereli.
United Airlines has announced that it will start services from Bahrain to Washington via Kuwait from April 2010.
These flights will originate from Washington Dulles Airport to Bahrain. United’s current non-stop service from Washington D.C. to Kuwait will continue to Bahrain, with the return flight also stopping in Kuwait before continuing to Washington D.C.
Flights will be operated by Boeing 777 aircraft, offering United First, Business, Economy Plus and Economy classes.
